Hardware & Design
It’s small. It’s all plastic. And comes with a wrist strap. It can be easy to lose of you’re clumsy, and not noticeable in the smallest jean pocket. It’s practical, it’s a little expensive, and has a funny name (Think of it: mos-key-to. Because it’s small. Get it?).
I think that does it justice. And with that, the shortest “hardware and design” section of a review I’ve ever written, throughout this review are comparisons of equally small household objects, including a piece of quartz that resides by my bedside.
File Transfer Speeds
The LaCie Moskeyto most often transfers at 16 megabits per second and below on mid-range to high-end Windows 7 machines. It’s not the fastest thumb drive you’ll ever see by far; but it’s the smallest, and copying 4GB worth of HD videos and 12 megapixel photographs lasted always less than 7 minutes. In total I’ve transfered 20 GB worth of data on the MosKeyto review unit, not only to evaluate overall performance, but if it ever gets hot or warm. Turns out it can, but only if you transfer large files all the time.
Conclusion
At $18 for 4GB, the MosKeyto may be slightly expensive to some for such small storage space, but in short, it’s totally worth it. Convenient yet high-quality plastic design and the “ooooh” that comes with having one of these — MosKeytos — is pretty hard to look past by, even if you’re on the world’s smallest budget. All in all, I’d recommend it and say “get one”, and make your current USB stick feel jealous. Plus each of these MosKeytos come with 4GB of online storage, so you’re almost always covered.
