The iPad only recently went on sale — mind you — 25 days ago only in the U.S. The 3G version is not even out yet and worldwide availability is not from official Apple sales, as vendors in China are packing up iPads in luggage to sell locally. But already, for a site like LaptopMemo, traffic sourcing from the iPad is on the rise. Mind you — again — that for one thing LaptopMemo isn’t a top-tier site on Technorati (but it will be #1, and I can’t wait!) and that any log data originating from Google could be iffy at times, it’s the best the whole Internets have got, and it’s our choice because we think it’s accurate. But anywaaaays onto the numbers:
This screenshot wasn’t from a real iPad. But it uses its full rendering engine! Huzzah!
I love the iPad. It’s true. Hate me if I do, but I really, really love this thing. And while I may not own one (because I need 3G), I can already see the uses I’d have for it (which I won’t name here, because it’s an endless list and gaming is one of them). The traffic numbers, emerging from Google Analytics indicate that the iPad is number 8 on the list of top OSes used to visit the site, as seen below:
- Windows — 77.98%
- Macintosh — 11.86%
- iPhone — 3.09%
- Android — 2.35%
- Linux — 2.02%
- iPod — 0.73%
- (not set) — 0.70%
- iPad — 0.57%
- BlackBerry — 0.39%
- Playstation 3 — 0.14%
Now you could definitely say (and I mean really) that the iPad isn’t a very large source of traffic by far (and wide) for LaptopMemo, a growing technology news site. But what you do have to say is that the iPad, is on a blazing run. And people are buying it. And they’re using it to its fullest extent.
