Project Pink Microsoft phones are officially headed to Verizon

Anybody remember Project Pink? Before Windows Phone 7 Series stole its fire, and when Microsoft was planning a social phone targeted at “teens”? Yeah, well the Project Pick “Turtle” (because it looks like one and therefore is ugly) is headed to Verizon according to Giz. It will not run Windows Phone, but might instead use its own OS. As for apps, there’s complete confirmation that it couldn’t possibly use Windows Phone 7 Series apps, and that leaves us all with a piqued expression. According to John Hermann:

It’s suggested that the platform has apps of some sort. For a phone like this to share apps with Windows Phone 7 is pretty much impossible, so this one’s a big question mark. Is it another SDK? Or closed app development like we’ve seen on the Zune HD?

Hopefully all of this will come down soon. Hopefully.
