
While we knew the Droid would be getting Android 2.1 in all of its multitouch glory, we didn’t know when. Well, now Motorola is claiming on its Facebook page that the 2.1 OTA update “will start to roll out this week”. Meaning that now, both of the permier Android devices — Motorola’s Droid and Google’s Nexus One — will have full multitouch capabilities, becoming even more a threat to the iPhone, and both will become even more awesome as well. Otherwise, as a recap for those of you who are ignorant of the update’s offerings, the Droid will get full multitouch in Maps, Browser, and Gallery, as well as an improved virtual keyboard, voice recognition updates, the new 3D Gallery, Google Goggles, and a few other minor bug fixes.
