Starting off another section of LaptopMemo is very exciting. In the Opinion section, it will be the thoughts (and opinion) of yours truly, as well as any other writers that in the future will come to work here at LM.
Rumors, rumors, rumors. It’s only rumors. But you know what? It’s real. And it should be coming soon, remember that Apple even scheduled for the 26th of January? Well that conference seems — as according to rumors — to be for developers, and a demo of a new device will be shown there, as well as instructions on how developer’s apps can work effectively on this “device”.
In essence, the Apple Tablet is a slate, (hence the rumored name, iSlate, which is basically registered under Apple as a trademark and domain name) with multitouch capabilities, and runs either the iPhone OS or Snow Leopard. According to numerous reports over a course of years (3 to be exact), Sir Steve Jobs has had three Apple Tablets made to date. The first was low on power, the second then had power but less battery life, and the third is what has been puzzling me (and all other tech blogs) for quite a while now. The third one is supposed to be the one that sees a release date (which according to more rumors, is January 26).

As for the specs of the Apple Tablet, the screen size with the most confirmations is 7 inches. There also has been 9.6, 10.7, and 7-inch versions that are also in speculation (with the 7″ being the most possible). Besides having a multitouch screen, the iSlate (I’ll call it this for now) would allow you to interact with it in a “new” way. As the NYT claimed, “You will be very surprised how you interact with the new tablet.” Whatever it is, it better be good.
Of course, there’s a multitude of other rumors bundled in one nice, big page made by the guys at Giz that you can dream about, but for now, I think I’ll stop here. Like, right here. Perfect.
