Previously, Home Premium was $150, now $50, Professional $200, now $100, and Ultimate is staying Ultimate, at $220 (ouch.)

People in the US, Canada or Japan who already have a PC running XP or Vista get these prices via pre-order starting June 26, 2009. Pre-ordering starts Friday at the Microsoft Store and “Major Retailers”.

Remember this is a limited time sale, because of stock. (There’s always a catch, huh?)

So if you want Windows 7, and have a PC, that’s what you’ll be paying.

Here’s info for people who are buying a PC starting on June 26, 2009. If you buy a new PC starting June 26, and you have Home Premium, you get a free Windows 7 Home Premium on October 22, 2009. The date that everyone gets Windows 7.

These prices below are the estimated retail prices. Upgrades mean people who already have a PC after the limited time pre-ordering session.  Full versions are for people who are building a PC.

Windows 7 Home Premium: $120 for upgrade; $200 for full version
Windows 7 Professional: $200 for upgrade; $300 for full version
Windows 7 Ultimate: $220 for upgrade; $320 for full version

So anyway now we know how much we will be paying for Windows 7!
