Apple Safari 4 Review

The web browser is something that is very important on a computer. We use a web browser everyday! It should be the right one, right?

Maybe Safari 4 is the perfect one?

Apple Safari 4 was announced at the WWDC 09, the same place where the new Macbook Pro Family and iPhone 3GS were announced. For a hands-on review of the Macbook Pro 13-inch, click here.

In my fourth and final part of the “Browser Reviews”,  I reviewed each of the 4 major web browsers (Internet Explorer 8, Mozilla Firefox 3, Apple Safari 4 BETA, and Google Chrome. I came to the decision that Mozilla Firefox 3 was the “Best Browser” due to the speed, security, and ease of use as well as the add-ons available.  But now, I think I could possibly change that, with the new Firefox 3.5.  But Apple Safari 4 deserves a pat on the back if not more.

Apple Safari 4 Web Browser Review

First of all, I’m glad that you can actually click on the tab bar to open a new tab, something you couldn’t do in the beta. Although there isn’t too much that is new here. Overall the colors are the same, buttons the same, Cover Flow the same, and the  name is basically the same. What’s new?

I’ll tell you right away. It’s FASTER! It is now the FASTEST browser in the world. Personally, it’s faster than Firefox. Really. It eats Javascript for breakfast, then eats PDF documents for lunch, Adobe Flash for dinner, and anything else like downloads for dessert. So overall it’s a good fast browser, but is it secure? It is, very much so, but as for viruses, I couldn’t just go all over the Internet looking for viruses for my computer! One attacked it already, although after reviewing and using Avira Antivirus, that virus is history. But, by mistake, or human error, I stumbled upon a site from Youtube about movies, and there it was:  Safari warned me of a virus, before the antivirus did. Neat.

Besides all the speed and security, I have been addicted to Safari. Whenever I open Firefox,  I quickly say: What Am I Doing? This isn’t Safari is it?

Doing anything in Safari is a breeze, from saving bookmarks to opening them. Everything in Safari is clean, fun,  fast and secure, as well as free.

Well done Apple.

So, you might be asking: “Okay, but what browser should I use?”

Well, coming up later I’ll review Mozilla Firefox 3.5. Then, we’ll see a battle that only the 12 year old tech news and reviews blogger, Stef, can deliver!
